Petticoat Lane, on the edge of the East End, is London’s oldest existing Sunday street market. Over many decades, it played an important part in the life of Jewish London.

This superb selection of photographs, taken in late 1970 and early 1971 by Hyman Wolanski and reproduced with his kind permission, are wonderfully evocative of the market as it was 40 years ago.
