    Walk-Artists of the Jewish East End
     
    To commemorate the reopening of the Whitechapel Art Gallery, Clive Bettington will be discussing the famous artists of the Jewish East End including Bomberg, Rosenberg Gertler, Simeon Solomon and Epstein

    Walk-The Jewish East End and the Rise of Zionism
     
    Clive Bettington  will be discussing these highly topical subject and looking at the famous Zionists and anti-Zionists who had East End links .  Among the people discussed will be Herzl, Jabotinsky, Ben Gurion, Montefiore , Montagu and Adler

    Walk-The Literary Ghetto
     
    To commemorate the event mentioned below Clive Bettington will be leading a   walk looking at the work of the great literary figures of the Jewish East End. Writers discussed include Rosenberg, Zangwill, Wesker, Mankowitz , Kops and Avram Stencl

    Tribute to the Writers associated with the old Whitechapel Library
    The Whitechapel Art gallery, in association with JEECS, will be paying tribute to the writers associated with the so-called “University of the Ghetto”. Among the famous writers attending will be Sir Arnold Wesker, Steven Berkoff , Emanuel Litvinoff and Bernard Kops. The event will be chaired by Prof. Lisa Jardine , the daughter of Dr. Jacob Bronwoski. There will be a reception and the unveiling of a plaque containing the last stanza of the poem on the library by Bernard Kops

    Walk-Pimps Pickles and the Palais
    Clive Bettington will be discussing the Jewish history of the Commercial Road area including the Poor Jews Temporary Shelter, the Yiddish theatre, Jewish prostitution the Oxford and St. Georges Club, the Troxy cinema etc etc

    Fermin Rocker-Exhibtion of Paintings
    The paintings of Fermin Rocker, son of Rudolf  Rocker will be featured in an exhibition of paintings by American social realists

    The writer Ed Glinert will be looking at one of the most important political events in he history of the Jewish East End, the Battle of Cable Street

Year dedicated to discussing the radical political history of the Jewish End – anarchists, socialists, Communists etc. The year marks the 100th anniversary of the Siege of Sidney Street and the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street.
