Sunday March 31, 2019 Theme: The Whitechapel of Isaac Rosenberg.
Led by Clive Bettington, JEECS chairman, the walk will mark the 101st anniversary of the disappearance of Isaac Rosenberg, the great East End poet and artist, on the Western Front and will look at how Whitechapel influenced his life and works.
Isaac Rosenberg grew up in appalling poverty, was frequently ill and received an indifferent education. Despite all this he won a scholarship to the prestigious Slade School of Art and is now recognised as one of the greatest British poets of the Great War, second only maybe to Wilfred Owen.
Meet at Aldgate tube at 11am.
We are asking participants for a minimum £10 donation.
